You might want to check this out. It’s Ryan Hall (top marathoner in the US) doing a workout in preparation for the Boston Marathon. Both the workouts and his commentary are fantastic.

In other news, I think I might actually being getting into “shape” again. I actually made a pace time of 2:45 for 3 200s tonight. Go team go!

cross jack, die soon

April 14, 2009

I’m a 24 addict. Like, when they take that show off the air I’m going to experience some serious physical pain.

I must say, though, that the show has become somewhat predictable. Every season a pattern repeats itself. Same pattern, different characters/setting/etc. But it’s the same pattern. It goes like this:

1. If you are not on Jack Bauer’s side, you die.
2. You will die when Jack Bauer kills you.

And that sort of makes me sad. Because one of my favourite characters–Tony–crossed back over to the dark side last night. I have no idea if he’s just faking like earlier in the season, but I know this: before this day is over Jack Bauer will kill Tony Almaida. If I’m wrong, I’ll buy you a steak.

In other, completely unrelated news.  We celebrated Easter this weekend. Why? Because Jack Bauer gave Jesus CPR for 3 days.

training day lessons

April 6, 2009

Yesterday was my first ever PTC training day. Here’s what it taught me.

1. You can’t take 5 and a half months off and come back in 1.

2. Tom’s mouth, er, his “enthusiasm” for the sport, is still as big as mine.

3. We’ve got a heck of a lot of very talented juniors in the province.

4. Coach CT will always be the man, and I’ll never beat James in a swim off.

5. When you’re swimming 2600 worth of 100s on 1:30 (and your average is about 1:23), there’s not a whole lot of time for sarcastic comments to the people around you. Also: it hurts your shoulders.

6. I can’t wait to do it all again in a month. Next time, I won’t sally out on the run.

7. And most importantly: I got the bug back.

Word to your mothers, and fathers.

Dear James and Tom

April 3, 2009

Dear James and Tom,

I’ll see you Sunday. In the AM. In the water. After this long, harsh winter we shall be re-united. For swimming, and for suffering.

Bring your A-game. Because I’m bringing mine.

Yours truly,

The Pain Train, ADM.
